You definitely need to be female to give birth, regardless of whatever gender identity label you give yourself (e.g. "man" or "non binary").

That was conclusively disproven by Schwarzenegger et al., 1994.

Our education system has failed younger generations. Everyone my age watched the documentary about Schwarzenegger's pregnancy.

I'm not sure if you're kidding or what but the mothers in that paper had 46 (the normal number) of XX chromosomes, a female with a mosaic-type defect containing some Y - successfully giving birth further proves these were female humans.

If you want your mind-blown, read up on feto-maternal microchimerism:

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8762399/

tl;dr: All boy moms will have some proportion of XY cells lodged in their bodies until they die. And this can result in them showing up as genetically male on a DNA test, simply because they once gave birth to a boy. When you get down to a cellular or molecular level, notions of "sex" or even "individuality" are far more blurry than our mental models admit. Sorta like recent findings that by cell count, humans are only about 43% human, and the rest is the bacteria making up our microbiome, and that our microbiome can have significant impact on our behavior.

yeah I knew that already - I have a son and it was mentioned as a fun fact along the way

If you want to provide appropriate care to people with wombs you don't want to filter based on what their drivers' license or birth certificate say, because those can not only defy your expectations, but they can also be wrong due to clerical errors or other factors.

I can't even humor your assumption that there are only two sexes and one birthing sex, because intersexed people exist, as do people with unusual chromosomes. Some of them have wombs and can give birth. Language like "birthing persons", while awkward, admits the existence of those people into a larger group without requiring even more awkward phrasing akin to "women, and men with wombs, and intersexed people with wombs".

Intersex and chromosomal disorders don’t change the sexual binary. They aren’t some weird other sex.

You should probably let all the doctors and scientists know that you're changing the definition of sex and they're all wrong then.

There are literally two sexes. There is no doctor or scientist that would disagree. What other sexes do you think exist?

FB Marketplace is great.

I actually despise Marketplace compared to the Craigslist days. Unfortunately it seems to be where everyone moved.

Craigslist had no accounts or login wall. Postings were chronological with a map. Simple email for communication rather than FB messenger.

I should clarify that what I mean is that it's very useful for buying and selling. Where I live, at least, it's more active than Kijiji or Craigslist ever were.

What games do you play? Are there multiple ones going on?

It is crazy to me that you not only have that many friends free to visit at the same time, but also that they're all interested in PC gaming. All while having kids (or at least you do).

I was at a LAN party a few months ago, but it was with a retro PC club more than a group of friends (altough I am friends with a couple of those guys). Someone setup Netware and had a dashboard connected to a big screen showing machines connected over IPX. Worked great for games like Doom II. But I can't imagine wanting to do that more than like, once a year. I'm more of a small group of friends + board games person.

It’s in the FAQ. Mostly cooperative, not winner takes all. Lots of genres.

I guess the silver lining is that China will most certainly implement a similar program now.

Or Japan, or Canada, or Argentina, or Brazil, or Chile, or...

Yeah seems like a north and South America thing for the most part.

It would be nice if Apple provided documentation, not even code.

The production of documentation is not free. As an Apple shareholder why would I want them to spend money doing this?

Love it.

I wonder if they could have made the disk support work better by producing an interposer board to turn the (much simpler) Apple Disk II drive into a 1541, rather than butchering a 1541 to go the opposite way.

Adrian Black found that the 1541-compatible Enhancer 2000 was essentially that, right down to having a pin-compatible Disk II style interface internally. He tried using a real Disk II with the Enhancer's logic board, and had some success using it as a C64 drive: https://youtu.be/zGm5Jvo571g?t=5780

Commodore was very protective of their DOS. Perhaps the Spartan DOS Board was a means to sidestep that by requiring users own a legitimate 1541

Reminds me of New Topographics, but not mostly in black and white.

> saves you 260 watts/hr.

It saves you 260 watts, continuously.

> a SCOTUS that's stacked with Trumpist ideologues.

It's majority conservative, but that's not the same thing as what you're claiming here.

It has 3 members appointed by Trump, but even that doesn't make them Trumpist ideologues.

I really can't find any other possible interpretation of their wall to wall decisions on anything election related. They are a knowing and enthusiastic participant in the coup.

Thomas is a born and bred loser, but otherwise they're afraid of being assassinated. Judges are under massive, massive amounts of threat whenever they think to hold Trump to literally any scrutiny whatsoever.

Not a conspiracy theory, this is an open discussion topic among federal judges within their own conferences.

Ah yes, rule of law is when judges get their decisions overruled by invisible terrorists.

Yeah it's awful

I don't believe for a second that Trump, being the narcissist that he is, would appoint anyone but ideologues.

Probably more loyalists than ideologues. It’s the Project 2025 influence that has the ideologues. And the Thiel/Vance sector has the traditional influence-focused corruption, while the Trump family is more low-trust-society personal enrichment grift.

Quite a perfect storm.
